What is Stanway's parish plan?
A Parish Plan is a document developed through community participation, research, survey, and consultation and sets out the vision for the future of Stanway.
It is a community led project.
The Parish Plan reflects the views of all sections of the community e.g. business, schools, youth groups, pensioners, clubs, and organisations and identifies the problems and opportunities, the features and aspirations. It identifies the concerns within the community and highlights what needs to be improved or conserved. It is a statement of how the community sees itself evolving over the next few years.
It helps bring groups and individuals together to work towards a common goal.
Parish Plans were promoted by the Countryside Agency as part of their Vital Villages programme.
The Goverments Rural Strategy published in 2004 outlines the importance of Parish Plans and their links to statutory planning processes and civil renewal.
At all stages of the Parish Plan the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) will give assistance advice and support, a named field officer will be assigned to Stanway.
Why create a parish plan?
It gives everybody a chance of having their say.
It increases the communities’ knowledge of what is happening in their parish.
A parish plan improves success in funding by providing evidence of community led local projects.
It enables local issues to be considered in the statutory planning process, ie. 'Community Strategy' and 'Local Development Framework'.
